Knowledge Base > Online Backup with True Disaster Recovery > How can I speed up my backup data transfer?
Solution 1.) Increase speed by increasing your office bandwidth:
Often when ISPs (Internet Service Providers) sell an internet package, they will only advertise their download speed. Often the upload speeds are just over half of what the advertised down speed is.
A good site to use to check your own up and down speeds is http://www.speedtest.net. This site will give a good estimate of your bandwidth capabilities.
Solution 2.) Only backup mission critical files:
True Disaster Recovery is proud to be able to offer unlimited backup space to our clients, however, this space is best utilized to backup files that would be necessary to keep an office running in the event of a data loss or other disaster. Non-mission critical files, such as music files, video files, and other multimedia data will bog down the transfer process.
Keeping these backed up is certainly recommended, however it is recommended that these files be backed up to CD,DVD or HDD rather than on-line backup.
