No. The client for the Virtual Desktop will run on most operating systems, including the MAC.  Even an older machine will perform just fine.  In fact, when you connect to Virtual Desktop using an older machine you will notice a remarkable improvement in performance because you will be accessing the absolute latest hardware and software available.  You basically just need your desktop computer for the mouse, keyboard, monitor, and Internet connection.  We do the rest.  You will be amazed at how clean and fast everything is.
